The Royal Oak was built in the 16th Century as an inn and is still a traditional village pub, with the warm, friendly and cosy atmosphere of its rural village setting.
It stands next door to the former Blacksmiths Forge in Royal Oak Lane, Aubourn. There was a public house on this`site in 1828 and it was called 'The Plough', however in 1870 the name was changed to 'The Royal Oak'.
Decorated in traditional horse brasses and beamed ceilings, the Royal Oak has open fires in the winter and serves barbeques in the summer for special occasions.
It is a member of CAMRA and there are always five real ales for choice.
There are two beer gardens and a heated patio.
The rear beer garden is ideal for the children as it is enclosed in an orchard and has play equipment.
Food is available ranging from traditional pub dishes to the more elaborate restaurant menu.
